Muse Planing to Rock the Cosmos?

Muse

British alt-rockers Muse have already achieved stratospheric fame as Stephenie Meyer's band of choice and a staple on every Twilight soundtrack (even though fans of heavy-grade horror were already in on the game, thanks to the track “New Born” from Alexandre Aja's Haute Tension). But according to an article in UK music mag NME, the band is setting their sights even higher – way higher, in fact: they want to be first band to play a gig in orbit. Hell yeah, we're serious... and so are they.

According to the NME article, Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has been talking very seriously with the band about the technical possibilities of one day playing a set in space: “We've had some discussions,” he said. “Sometimes very coherent conversations and sometimes very late at night, but it's for real... I do think it will be possible in the future and I'm sure it will happen in my lifetime. We'd love to be part of that.”

The most interesting of their ideas involved approaching billionaire entrepreneur Richard Branson to talk about the band performing on one of his Virgin Galactic sub-orbital spacecraft currently in development. “Although we do have a lot of equipment,” Bellamy admitted, “so I guess we'd have to use pods to carry our stuff and we'd scale back the shows a lot.”

Sounds good to me. Maybe Matt Bellamy can accomplish what Lance Bass wanted to for all those years. :)
