Muse Song of the Week 01/30/2011

The Muse Song of the Week is Undisclosed Desires. Apparently, this song is causing some concern among "real" Muse fans because it is different from their usual rock and roll vibe. I personally happen to like it...

I've chosen a video from their Glastonbury set from this year. (I linked it from a YouTube user because my copy would not post for some reason.)

Undisclosed Desires, like most of their songs, sounds awesome live! Check it out!

Noooo.... It keeps getting worse!

Report: Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy Are Engaged

Matt Bellamy and Kate HudsonFollowing the news that actress Kate Hudson and Muse frontman Matt Bellamy expecting a child, there has now been fresh speculation that the pair have also recently become engaged.

Hudson, 14 weeks pregnant, and her rock star beau Bellamy are believed to have held a secret engagement party at an exclusive London hotel on Jan. 24. Guests rumoured to have been there include Hudson's mother and Hollywood mainstay Goldie Hawn, the star having been in the country to present an accolade at the British Comedy Awards two days previously.

Hawn recently admitted her excitement at the pregnancy to Us Weekly, enthusing that "we're just all very happy ... happy for them both." Bellamy met his future mother-in-law and Hawn's partner, actor Kurt Russell over the Christmas period.

Of the engagement event itself, Contactmusic reports an insider telling The Sun newspaper "it was an intimate party. They kept their engagement secret as they wanted to celebrate with their nearest and dearest before it became public knowledge."

The pair, who've been dating for nine months, could in fact be set to make London a permanent home though. Bellamy recently told the Daily Star that he and the rest of Muse were planning to all move there in order to make rehearsing for the band's sixth album easier.

The singer commented to the paper "it'll be the first time we're all going to be in the same place since we were much younger... maybe in summer we'll start getting into rehearsing and writing."

Muse Song of the Week 01/16/2011

The Muse song of the week is Feeling Good.. a remake of the old song by Nina Simone (much better than the original, I must say). This is the live version from the infamous Radio 3 incident where the producers of the show asked the members of Muse not to curse, they got offended, and Matt Bellamy dropped the "f bomb" into as many of the lyrics as possible. Check it out but be warned ahead of time - explicit content ahead!

Warning: Explicit Lyrics

(And the usual disclaimer: This video does not belong to me)

Once again people... DO NOT tell Muse not to do something and expect them not to do it! Try a little reverse psychology next time, eh?

Muse Planing to Rock the Cosmos?
by Gregory Burkart, Tue., Jan. 4, 2011 9:01 AM PST (www.fearnet.com)

Muse

British alt-rockers Muse have already achieved stratospheric fame as Stephenie Meyer's band of choice and a staple on every Twilight soundtrack (even though fans of heavy-grade horror were already in on the game, thanks to the track “New Born” from Alexandre Aja's Haute Tension). But according to an article in UK music mag NME, the band is setting their sights even higher – way higher, in fact: they want to be first band to play a gig in orbit. Hell yeah, we're serious... and so are they.

According to the NME article, Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has been talking very seriously with the band about the technical possibilities of one day playing a set in space: “We've had some discussions,” he said. “Sometimes very coherent conversations and sometimes very late at night, but it's for real... I do think it will be possible in the future and I'm sure it will happen in my lifetime. We'd love to be part of that.”

The most interesting of their ideas involved approaching billionaire entrepreneur Richard Branson to talk about the band performing on one of his Virgin Galactic sub-orbital spacecraft currently in development. “Although we do have a lot of equipment,” Bellamy admitted, “so I guess we'd have to use pods to carry our stuff and we'd scale back the shows a lot.”

Sounds good to me. Maybe Matt Bellamy can accomplish what Lance Bass wanted to for all those years. :)

An insult and then a compliment.... and I'm sad :(

Everyone knows that I'm not a huge fan of Kate Hudson. I thought Matt was doing just fine dating that nice psychologist, Gaia Polloni. But alas, things change and I had begun to move on. Now this?

Anyway, to add insult to injury..... The person writing this story does not seem to understand the magnitude of Muse's fame in England. Matt Bellamy is going to have to "deal with media scrutiny"? Are you kidding me? Matt Bellamy leads one of the largest and most popular rock bands in the world. It's not his fault that America is incredibly slow at recognizing talent! Something tells me that Kate Hudson doesn't know media scrutiny yet...

The author does, however, rectify herself in stating that she hopes that Muse does not slow down with writing because "we need more Muse in our lives in 2011." Now THAT'S more like it!

Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy thrust into spotlight
Kate Hudson Reportedly Pregnant

Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy is reportedly set to become a dad with girlfriend Kate Hudson. Will this shine an intense media spotlight on the ultra-popular band?

Muse Frontman Matthew Bellamy and Kate Hudson pregnant
Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy is making headlines -- not for his music, but for the announcement that girlfriend Kate Hudson is pregnant.
"They couldn't be more excited [about Kate Hudson’s pregnancy]," a source told People. "Kate is really happy. She was always excited to have kids again at some point."

Bellamy and Hudson were first spotted together about nine months ago. Hudson spoke highly of Bellamy at the time, saying he was a "lovely" person.

"I do believe in love. I believe that when you really open yourself up to love, it's the most beautiful thing," Hudson said.

Hudson’s pregnancy will bring Bellamy a great deal of media scrutiny -- he’s sold 10 million albums with Muse since the band formed in 1994, but he’s enjoyed relative anonymity outside of music. Even the spotlight of the Twilight series didn’t amp up Bellamy’s personal star power -- author Stephenie Meyer credits Muse as the inspiration of the series.

Now? Bellamy will have to deal with the intense paparazzi scrutiny that Hudson deals with on a daily basis. Photographers have already followed the couple as they dined in California, spent the holidays in Aspen and met up with pals Bradley Cooper and Renee Zellweger in Paris.

We’re really happy for you, Matthew! Just one request: Don't slow down on making music. We need more Muse in our lives in 2011!

Muse Song of the Week 01/09/2011

Yet another Muse video that proves Matt Bellamy's genius. Check out the video at around 4 minutes in when Matt falls over a speaker, the crew rushes in to save him, and he just keeps on playing like he isn't upside down with his butt in the air. Loving it!
